WebQuest to save the day!

Hello guys! This week we talked about technology integration in the classroom. As we know, it is not very common with our usual claas books. So, we were encouraged to integrate technology to a normal class book. We did this by turning a regular project in the book into a digital one, using webquest.

First me and Görkem chose the project we will digitalize. We preferred superhero creation in the 19th chapter of our book, since it is a very fun activity. To start, we chose where to create the webquest, we chose Zunal. Then, we get to work. We asked our students to create a superhero on Character Creator. They later prepared a description for their heroes using a template on Canva. Finally, they exchanged their heroes with their classmates and prepared a poster on their friends' hero's, using Poster My Wall. all of the steps were explained very carefully on the webquest.

To be honest, this activity was very fun to create and I believe everyone can prepare a simple webquest. It is so worth the effort considering how much our students will have fun. I suggest you give it a try as well.

I hope to see you guys later, have a great week :)

Feel free to check our WebQuest here.

Here is Görkem's blog post for this week.

Hellooo!!! I'm back with a new project :) This week we focused on corpus. What is corpus, you may ask. I can say it's a teachers dream :) It is formulated linguistic data that you can use to determine how a word can be used. Basically, if you require a sentence with a specific word in it, you can find it at lextutor.ca .  Besides corpus, we learned about language awareness tasks. It can be explained as student driven learning. An example of language awareness task would be our task down below :) Görkem and I were given a language teaching book and we chose a chapter and subject. Our purpose was to give students a worksheet that makes them realize about the use of the subject on their own.  Take a look at this example we created and don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any :) Also make sure to check my friend Görkem's blog here . See you soon :)

Flipped Classroom Grammar Lesson

Hey guys! This week we prepared a grammar teaching video, using flipped approach. I worked with my friend Görkem and we chose conditionals as our topic. We began by studying the subject thoroughly. After that, we decided on how to explain the subject. We prepared a slide using Canva on the subject and started recording our voices.  After we were done, we created some handouts as well as a Wordwall project. You can see them down below. To be honest, this was a harder assignment than our other works but I can easily say it was educative. I was having a hard time with synchronizing the materials. In the end, it turned out pretty well :) If you have time, please take a look at our video :) See you in the next assignment... Also, here is Görkem's post about our work. Here's the puzzle we've created on Wordwall. Here are the worksheets we created.

FLIPPED CLASSROOM APPROACH

Hi guys! This week, we studied on flipped classroom approach. To be honest, I didn't know this was a thing! If I explain it very simply, I can say it's like online teaching, but definitely better. You get to create a video of your lesson, then share it with the class so that they can learn at their own pace. There's no time limitations whatsoever. I think it's a pretty fun process for the teacher and the student, if they are good with online tools :)  We got to make a flipped lesson with Görkem and we'd like to share the steps we took with you! Also, you are welcomed to check our lesson down below :) As the first step ,  we chose our focus, which ended up being vocabulary. After doing some research on the vocabulary group, we got to work. We chose to work with fifth graders and picked unit two called my town. After that, we created a slide on Canva . Did you know it enables you to embed sounds into the slide? We did just that :) After thoroughly preparing our slid...
